VALET - urban garden
Together with PRR Architetti and Lorenzo Noè we have presented Valet, a city development strategy centered on streets, designed to rethink public space by creating new outdoor areas, pedestrian precincts, and dehors for dining and socializing.
The Valet System is a modular parklet system that generates fresh open-air spaces for shops and terraces for restaurants, transforming streets into livable, green, and friendly environments. The core of the system lies in its prefabricated modular plates. These plates serve as adaptable motherboards for integrating greenery and other streetscape elements, including shrubs and trees, awnings and sunshades, furniture, and lighting. The aim is to create a complex and open streetscape where these elements interact with each other and with passers-by – whether on foot, by bike, or by car. The parklet exemplifies tactical urbanism: an innovative approach to urban planning based on interventions that aim to create new public spaces. Functioning as an extension of the pavement, the parklet offers increased space and services for street users.
