RØST

Bistrot, Milan - Italy

The restaurant, opened in Porta Venezia district, has been designed as a cozy and intimate place, and it's divided in two areas: the main room that gravitates around the bar counter, and a small room overlooking the kitchen. We have translated Røst values into solutions of space, colors and surfaces. The result is a simple place, without fictions or artifices, with a careful and limited use of the material, reduced to a few basic types.

The tones are warm, dominated by the red color "Marsala", which refers to the fundamental relationship with wine and earth. The lime frescoed walls have two shades, the darker of which goes to create a sort of irregular boiserie. The same colors are also used for the ceramic covering that characterizes the kitchen and the adjacent room. The restaurant is located in a space that for years belonged to a car parts shop. The value of the pre-existing features is evidenced by the choice to preserve the original floor, a sown one in porphyry pieces, and the chandelier made by assembling headlights from cars of different eras in the diffuser, a tribute to the world of cars.
